Non-issue Issue: Charcoal Donut Ad

Charcoal-Donut-Ad

You know this ad right, the ad that was advertising the new Dunkin’ Donuts ‘Charcoal Donut’ in Thailand. It got various groups, including the ‘Human Rights Watch’, up in arms about it to the point that the Dunkin’ Donuts powers that be apologized for the ad and are taking steps to change the campaign. However I don’t anything ‘offensive’ or ‘racist’ about the ad, although I will agreed its ‘bizarre’ to a point; a lot of foreign commercial are but it doesn’t make them out to attack a group of people. In fact the only part I have a problem with is the name ‘Charcoal Donut’. Who wants to eat a Charcoal Donut? Not me, but the rest of this hot mess is a non-issue.
