Armada’s E3 picks: Zelda: Hyrule Warriors (9/26/2014)

Now I know what you’re thinking; why in the heck is Nintendo combining their world famous Legend of Zelda series with the some-what ok Dynasty Warriors series to create Zelda: Hyrule Warriors? Well to be honest at first I couldn’t see the appeal either; I don’t have anything against Dynasty Warriors, in fact one of my favorite games is Bladestorm (don’t judge me) – but I don’t really seek out Dynasty Warriors games either, so, you know. Nintendo however doesn’t do the same thing twice, exactly the same way, and thus Hyrule Warriors is born. Well as it turns out Hyrule Warriors might be Legend of Zelda gold after all. Watching the play through demo made me realize that this game is a non-canon ‘what if’ tale, similar to Project X Zone or Zoids Legacy. It takes the most famous Legend of Zelda characters, throws them into the battlefield together, and has them use awesome moves against evil (lots and lots of evil). Now, if to you, this still sounds like Dynasty Warriors with a little Link thrown in then skip it, but for me I’m willing to give it a try. After all the Zelda IP does have a phenomenal track record, even if it was crossed propertied ESO it would still be hard to bet against it.
