Armada’s E3 picks: Fable Legends (2015)

Ah Fable, the ‘tries hard, but falls short’ game series. Every title makes big promises on how they will change the face of video games, but in reality just produces an above average game. And I don’t say that to be mean, I rather like the Fable universe as a whole, but I got to call a spade a spade. So what does Fable Legends bring to the table? Well since I’ve talked about this game in the past you do know (or you will know now if you missed those articles) that the game is an online co-op title. Four players enter a dungeon a la Diablo and fight waves of enemies until you face off with the evil, vile, monster mastermind – another player. Yep, as the mastermind you decide what enemies and traps go into your dungeon with the sole purpose of killing those pesky heroes. But again you guys knew that (or not you know), so what new? Well how about this: Fable Legends will be free to play, so you don’t have to pay to play it. Now they promise you can play the game from beginning to end without spending a dime and still be well-balanced no matter if you spend for extra goodies or not. Will this be true or just be more of Fable’s vaulted promises, we will find out this year.
