Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Crackdown Run Orb)

crackdown3

Since we’re almost to the big scare day it’s time to make this simple for people didn’t like (or waited to late on) our previous costume choices but need something right away, right now. Crackdown is one of my favorite games, an action oriented title with a killer twist ending. However to get to that ending I needed to chase down and capture a lot of these things. They increased my agility, tested my skills as I collected them and a good time was had by all. Now you can be this helpful icon and its easy to make. Just print out this pic, tape it to some cardboard or yourself and BAM your done. It won’t be the most impressive thing ever but it will be fine for a last minute thing. Just be careful about people dressing up as Crackdown Agents, they may try to run into you to collect you if your costume is conniving enough. Just saying.

The Fall of Games: Fallout 4 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Video Series – Luck

As we come to the end of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. video series we take a look at the most other worldly stat in Fallout: Luck. Now you people may not be superstitious in real life, but in the wasteland you’ll need all the help you can get and being lucky where it counts will save you. Think about it; an invisible hand helping you making better shots, find better loot, making the impossible possible. And since this is Fallout you can run with it with wild and crazy elements including fan fav Mysterious Stranger.  Sadly no matter how high you put luck it doesn’t break the game in your favor; you’ll still die, get crap gear, and say the wrong thing to the wrong bandit lord from time to time. However if you hate life and want a  hardcore run of Fallout 4 then by all mean reduce luck to 1.  You’ll be beating of the yao guai with the stick in no time – seriously because you’ll won’t be able to find any good weapons with a 1 in luck. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Dog from Half Life 2)

Dog

You know people I played Half Life 1 and 2, it was a good experience and told a good enough story but I don’t have the almost zealous fervor many of the fans seem to have for this two game series (count the DLC episodes as part of HL2). While it will be a shame if the now urban legend of a sequel, Half Life 3, never comes out I wouldn’t say it will break gaming without its presence either. That being said we can keep the memory of Half Life alive with Costume choices this year. Sure you can pick Gordon Freeman or the best CPU co-op character ever Alyx, however for my choice I would recommend Dog the robotic juggernaut. One: robots are awesome (when they’re not trying to kill you), two: Dog is a bipedal, almost gorilla like robot with super strength and Zero Point Energy device that allows him to grab almost anything, and three: like his namesake he acts likes a loyal dog – short of barking (I think).   So it obvious why you should become Dog today as Half Life fan; however you’ll get bonus points for the complete set. If you’re a couple one dresses as Gordon, another like Alyx, and the pet as Dog; less points if your pet is not an actual Dog but still awesome none the less.

Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Phoenix Wright)

You know lawyers are always the butt of jokes, victims of disdain, and often the first people others talk to when Johnny law comes a calling. If Phoenix Wright had a commercial then he would hit all the points. Wright is the main character in probably the world’s first lawyer simulator (and I use simulator quite loosely) where players must determent their defendant’s guilt or innocent (mostly they’re innocent) by using evidence, logic, and sometimes luck. Now even though this series does deal with the heavy elements of murder, the characters and world of Phoenix Wright is quite colorful. Robots, mascot dogs, silver samurais, rock groups, psychics, ghosts, the heart of the cards (not really), and more are part of this awesome Capcom series. So find your bluest suit, put a round gold pin on it, spike your and practice your pointing pose because….

The Fall of Games: Fallout 4 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Video Series – Agility

Now we move on to the most popular stat in the Fallout series – Agility.  For good reason though as Agility is the main stat for standard firearms efficiency , dodging death blows, and stealthy sneak attacks. All good things but the main advantage to Agility is that it increases the effectiveness of V.A.T.S. or the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System. That system is what makes Fallout stand out from the rest, it allows players to target vital areas on your enemies  to cripple or disarm or (for 97% of fallout players) shoot / whack their heads off. The more agility you have the better your V.A.T.S. so it’s always a popular choice just for having cool glamour shots in Fallout. Of course you’ll be doing more than shooting things in the game (maybe, I don’t know), but if this is your first Fallout put at least 7 point into this one – you thank me later.

Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Pikmin)

All_Pikmin

Pikmin are an odd creatures. They’re part worms, lemmings, minions (the real ones), servebots, and plants. Multicolored and innocent looking they’re tiny dynamos when they work as a team. They’re giant slayers, master engineers, world hunger enders, and breed faster than jack rabbits. Each Pikmin type is impressive as they are resistance to the elements, can fly, can poison, use enhanced strength, and most oftenly be used as projectiles. However they are the quintessential disposable soldier and sadly without a space man to tell them what to do they would stay in the dirt all day. So this isn’t for a solo choice but rather a group effort; choose your favorite color of Pikmin and find 2 – 10 of your closest friends/family/associates and have them dress in similar fashion. If you get the full ten people (I know the Pikmin limit is 100 but I’m being realistic here) you’ll get bonus points and win the most Pikmin award (somewhere – I don’t know where). If not at least you’ll have the honor of wielding the giant flower (or leaf) on your head for a day.

Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Heavy Weapons Guy a.k.a. The Heavy)

I know, I know, I’m a Team Fortress 2 fan boi and there’s like 8 heavies per neighborhood block every Halloween but ‘The Heavy’ popularity is a well-deserved. If you haven’t dressed up as him once for Halloween then do so this year, and if never played TF2 ever in life then you’re doing yourself a huge disservice. Go to steam and play the game –it’s free. Also new comic out, read that too.
