A new year, a new day, and a brand new console! Nintendo wanting to start the new year right, they hosted a press conference giving us all more insight into their latest console coming out March 3rd. So what did I think about it, click the video and find out. By the by sorry about the size of the actual video – hosting videos on YouTube can be hit or miss when it comes to Nintendo. Not that it will stop me, but still…

Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Saint’s Row Boss)

Saint

Alright this one’s easy; the Saint’s Row Boss from the, you guessed it, Saint’s Row series of games. What started as a GTA ripoff (though I like to say homage) ended up as one of the wackest game series I ever played. Seriously crazy weapons, insane mini games, dynamic characters, it has it all plus the kitchen sink. The player character is just as versatile because you can practically look like anything and wear almost everything – or nothing. So let your freak flag fly, grab anything, put it on, and go out into the world this all hollows eve. And if people give up guessing on what your are, and they will, you can just tell them: “I was a former gang banger, CEO, President of the United States. Now I’m a space survivor on the human race who can travel time and was recently kidnapped by the devil to marry his daughter.” That certainly beats ‘zombie’ now doesn’t it.

Gift guide for great gamers: All the new Mii Plaza games

It’s Christmas Eve people, all the stores have sold out of games (even the crappy ones) and your pocket book could just float away because of how little you have in there. Yet you still haven’t brought the gamer in your life anything thing yet – looks like you’re going to be in the dog house this year. Nope. There’s still hope. Months ago Nintendo release four awesome street pass games for Mii Plaza: Mii Force, Flower Town, Monster Manor, and Warrior’s Way. Each one a barrel of fun and great way to use the Street Pass functionally (more Street Pass players = better results in the games). Sure they’re not very serious, and won’t win any awards for best game of the year but they have three things going for them: they’re cheap, they have a lot of replay, and they’re just plain fun. I mean I like how video games these days are written with a higher caliber than ever, showcasing society good and bad qualities just as well as any other form of media. But sometimes it’s just awesome to have nice, clean, fun with a game without the need to headshot someone in the face. Games that will never end up on Fox News for threating the valves of today’s youth. Bright primary color everywhere and no moral pondering about how my actions will ruin a virtual character’s whole day.  Don’t get it twisted however, these games are simple to learn but tough to master – especially since people with the same games will be your opponents as well as your allies in one way or another.  The new Mii Plaza games are a complete package of good times and simple innovation, whose only downside is that it’s only available for the 3DS. However if they don’t have a 3DS I’m sure they won’t mind having that under the tree tomorrow, I know I wouldn’t – then they could get the new Mii Plaza games for themselves. It’s a win-win.

The Xbox has launched

Great news people, in addition to the Xbox One finally releasing to the general public, thus kicking off the next generation of excellent games, but I might be able to get this one much sooner than expected. Now granted the launch line ups may not be the most vibrant, but Dead Rising 3 alone is enough to get a gamer excited. Sure the console does cost $100 more than PS4, but in my opinion it does more than the PS4.  And yes Microsoft did dig themselves into a hole by tell their core audience to #dealwithit, however they’ve since changed their unpopular practices and made sure the Xbox One is something the majority is happy with. No backwards compatibility but I’ve made peace with that. If PS4 & the Wii U not your speed then the One is the one for you, and if you need some more info check this link out and get informed.  I’ve been waiting a long time for the big three consoles to come out, and now that they have I expect game developers to take advantage of the technology and make wonders. They all are now put on notice, you are not as good as your last game any more.
