Let’s Play a Little: Battleborn

I don’t know if I’m born for this, but I’m more than ready to play it anyway.

Beta to the MAX: Battleborn

Beta-to-the-Maxx-Battleborn

MOBAs, to me, they always seems like a half done genre. Not knowing what it is or its general purpose to the gaming world at large. Even ‘good’ MOBA are stagnate and repetitive beyond a title’s reply valve. However that is changing thanks to excellent developers like Gearbox Software and Motiga. They are transforming MOBAs into something worth their hype. Don’t believe me? Then watch my video of the Battleborn open Beta – then try it for yourself (if you can, the open beta is for a limited time).

Games and Gear (of 2016): Battleborn

Now there’s no shortage of MOBAs out there, so why is Battleborn different? Because it’s a MOBA for people who hate MOBAs, and that my friends, is good enough for me.

Sweet Christmas Gift Guide – Tales from the Borderlands

Ok people time to hear a sad truth: with Gearbox Software focusing heavily on their newest IP, Battleborn, they have said on many an occasion that Borderlands would be put on the back burner. A bummer I know (though on the plus side I’m sure Battleborn with be an excellent addition to their line up of games), but worry not for the story of the Borderlands is not over yet thanks to Telltale Games and Tales from the Borderlands. Following a little bit after the end of Borderlands 2, Tales (the game, not the developer) starts two main characters: Fiona, a con-woman looking for the big score, and Rhys, a corporate lackey looking to become the next Handsome Jack. Through misfortune and mistrust they become tie together as their fate will be up to you. While this being a CYOA game, it lacks the frantic run and gun play style fans have grown accustom to in the Borderlands series. However it still retains the humor that the series is also known for, and since these character aren’t vault hunters the dangers are more real for them, and me, as we go along. The best thing about this title is that it fills in the Borderlands lore, which before Borderlands 2 was slim to none – and Borderland 2 only as necessary. A must download for all Borderlands fans, seeing how this might be the only thing we get Borderlands wise for a while.

Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Reyna Valeria)

Reyna Valeria

Now I know Battleborn is not even open to open beta but they have revealed characters, one of which is Reyna. This choice is for the ladies who likes Han Solo, Star Lord, and dislike posers and other people not doing what you tell them to do. As the leader of the Rouge faction she comes equipped with a pistol for shooting and Command Glove for commanding. She also provides her squad with shields and target marks to protect the squad and punish enemies. Add to the fact she’s been protecting her people against the catastrophe longer than most in Battleborn so you know she earned the nickname ‘the Valkyrie’ honestly. Anyway her design is simple but stylish so it won’t be difficult to replicate however the Command Glove might be tricky. There’s a work around though: use the power glove, not quite the same but it will do – plus I love the power glove, its soooo bad~….

Armada’s E3 picks: Battleborn (2015)

Gigantic and Battleborn: those two games will be the sleeper hits of the year. I’ve already talked about Gigantic so now it’s Battleborn turn; to start its being developed by Gearbox Software who has done the Borderlands series with their Bazillion of guns. They excel at diverse action and colorful characters, which is why Aliens: Colonial Maries failed so badly because it didn’t play to those strengths. Battleborn won’t have that problem and you can tell right away: from cyborgs, beastmen, samurai vampires, mini-gun wielding giants, outlaws, and even more craziness all converging to the last solar system in the universe. Why? To survive, of course, and to also have an awesome battle royale with (or against) the other big factions in what’s left in the universe; taking a stand from the big evil that ruined the universe in the first. No matter what kind of FPS player you are Battleborn will have you covered; no matter what skills you have Battleborn will test them, you like pimping out your characters – so does Battleborn. It even combines many different genres of gaming that evolves it pass something that’s just a MOBA or a FPS. I’m excite people, honestly. When I heard they weren’t going to do anymore Borderlands for a while, and just focus on Battleborn I was sadden. However as more and more play videos of Battleborn were released and showcase the title’s chops the more and more I was convinced. Now I’m a believer, and I can’t wait to get my turn to become Battleborn.

Games & Gear of 2015: Battleborn (2015)

So here’s the bad news: Gearbox Software won’t be making Borderlands 3 for a while because of an upcoming project (boo). The good news is that the upcoming project is Battleborn (yay)! I could try to convince you why Battleborn is the master race but I think I’ll let the developers do that for me – enjoy what’s soon to come this year (and at least with still got Tales from the Borderland to tide us over til the sequel).
