Let’s Watch: Ubisoft E3 Press Conference of 2016

E3 2016

Man… Editing E3 Press Conferences can be quite the epic journey. Anywho, here’s Ubisoft, an all round great show minus the lewd bits. Which reminds me –  parental discretion is advised is advised.

Games and Gear (of 2016): Tom Clancy’s The Division

It’s Tom Clancy’s, which means the U.S. is doomed.

Armada’s E3 picks: South Park –The Fractured, but whole. (2016)

South Park –The Fractured, but whole. Like Deus Ex – Mankind Divided, this game is a sequel out of nowhere, but it is totally welcome sight to see. After the whole Stick of Truth fiasco the four boys decided to shift their focus from wizards & warriors to the much more popular form of play: superheroes. And of course you’re going along for the ride as the new superhero kid (whether or not you’ll still be called douchebag is unknown). Their 2014 game was a masterwork of good old fashion turn based RPGing, so this upcoming 2016 title will do the same I’m sure. Though the name ‘The Fractured, but whole’ is classic South Park in its Sophomoric word play; but it also tells me in a clever way (again classic South Park) that the sequel will be ‘the new kid’s’ origin story. Which I would love to find out more about my avatar and how he got those gastronomic intestinal powers. I could be wrong but we’ll all find out next year.

This just in (Or not) – E3 2015 schedule

Yes people it’s almost that time again, the greatest convergence of gaming since my house in 1992: Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 for short (but you already knew that). This year will be a year of firsts for in addition of the big three (Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo) and the triple A machines (Electronic Arts & Ubisoft) having press conferences; newcomers to E3 Bethesda, Square Enix, and PC gaming show (by PC Gamer and AMD) will have their own press conferences as well. Will they unleash the next stage of gaming evolution or fall flat? Will they defeat last year’s champ (Nintendo) or will their  E3 transmission this year blow us all away again? Tune in and watch it for yourselves – or watch our Let’s Watch reactions of every conference either way you can’t go wrong.

Games & Gear of 2015: Toy Soldiers – War Chest (2015)

TSWC

At admit it, at one time or another you’ve played with Toys. Whether they were cars, robots, action figures or dolls people of today had their favorite of yesterday. So it begs the question: what was best toy of them all? Oh sure the easy answer would be army man, but the empowerment princess has the agility and her magical bubble gun can break a face. Well we can settle those questions this year thanks to Toy Soldiers: War Chest. Choose a toy faction and wage PG-13 combat for supremacy in the living room. Go toe-to-toe or unleash different vehicles of war like tanks, unicorns, mortars, candy launchers, turrets, and teddy bear hordes – just to name a few. So get ready, dig out your favorite toy, because once plastic starts flying you’ll be glad to have someone you can trust on your side.

Gift guide for great gamers: South Park & The Stick of Truth

south-park-the-stick-of-truth

Now I don’t have to say it but I will just in case someone out there missed it: South Park – The Stick of Truth was an excellent game that kept to the spirit of the show. From beginning to end it was like a fully realized interactive episode of the show that was also a pretty solid classic RPG. It was glorious! So if you know a South Park fan who still have their PS3/Xbox 360 and hasn’t played this game for some reason then by all means be a Mr. Hanky to that person and give them this awesome gift for Christmas (and not poo like the real Mr. Hanky).

Beta to the MAX – The Might Quest for Epic Loot

Welcome people to the new segment I call ‘Beta to the MAX’! (You get it? Because Betamax was a thing, it’s a play on words, comedy…. Never mind…). Its purpose is to highlight some awesome games that are currently available for open beta, which is usually the final shakedown before the game goes live. Hey remember I picked ‘The Might Quest for Epic Loot’ as one of my favorite highlight of E3 (I forget which year); well guess which game just so happens to have an open beta right now? No, WildStar was two weeks ago but that’s a good guess (And will be out tomorrow – yay!). Now what good am I if I don’t play what I preach, so I gave Might a whirl and I’m happy to say I’m a believer in the game. You get to choose from a warrior, archer, or mage (you can also pick the hard rocking runaway class but you have to pay for that) and set to invade a kingdom in a sky. Why? One – to steal all their Epic Loot (don’t worry everyone steals from each other in the sky apparently) and two, once you have the lootz you need to protect it with your very own sky castle. The duality of this premise makes the game great. While you got to be well-equipped, trained, and leveled to invade castles and survive; but you have to properly protect you property with traps, minions, and even bosses you’ve defeated in other castles. Combinations and configurations are nearly endless for both you and your castle, oh and did I forget to mention that this game is PVP as well. Yep other players can invade your castle and you can do the same. So what are you waiting for, an invitation? Get questing for epic loot toady!
