What Backlash does – WatchMojo.com

Yep our Backlash does other things on the internet, like freelance listing work for Watchmojo.com. Check out his latest work, the Top 10 Donkey Kong Games. Donkey Kong Jr is obviously number one, but let’s find out.

WTF/FTLOZ – Let it go (please)!

Fronze-sniper

It didn’t have to come to this…

Hey everyone, remember the pop-culture diarrhea known as The Harlem Shake? Well I did and it was one of the most musically stupidest things of the last year. Well guess what? I found the most musically annoying thing of this year: ‘Let it go’. For the few lucky people who don’t know what I’m talking about ‘Let it go’ is a musical number from the Disney animated movie “Frozen‘. Now I never watched the movie before (although I may in the future), but I know the song is from the movie, and how do I know that? Because every radio station in creation has told me before they start playing the song, and YouTube, forget about it, they are ridiculous.  So here and now I say: No more Let it go, no more on the radio, no more on YouTube, no more singing it to yourself – that song is banned in the Armada. It’s not a bad song people, but it’s soooooo whiny I can’t it anymore – plus the one millionth time is fine but one millionth & one, that’s where I draw the line. So to kick off the anti Let it go campaign here’s some video for viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

WTF/FTLOZ – The Harlem Shake

OK people when I first commended on Gangnam Style (never mind the pirate speak, it was talk-like-a-pirate day) I thought it was a quirky, wacky, music video that I just didn’t get (though it grew on me over time). However at least is was entertaining, at least PSY was talented, and least the Gangnam Style video was made with actually effort. The Harlem Shake, a beyond inane ‘dance’ with ‘music’, is the anti-Gangnam Style. I’m serious, it’s possible the worst thing I’ve seen (creatively) on YouTube. It is so bad I’ve had to create a new segment called WTF/FTLOZ, or What the Freak / For the Love of Zod, whose purpose is to highlight the very worst of the net – and the Harlem Shake is the inaugural subject because it’s just awful… But the scary thing is people its spreading, not only is it gaining popularity on the YouTube but people are starting to create off shoots ( a few examples below)- why, WHY! Please people stop the madness for the Love of Zod, go back and watch Gangnam Style, watch Epic Rap Battle, heck even watch the Annoying Orange Show, anything, but don’t watch or support The Harlem Shake – it is evil.

Now ‘this’ one, I like.

Games & Gear of 2013 – Injustice: Gods Among Us (4/16/2013)

logo_small

You know people it’s odd, I’ve been watching the Injustice: Gods Among Us website so a while now and never seem to change or offer any new information there – even though they release steady amounts of information and trailers everywhere else. Well I found out that they put all there updated information on their Facebook, twitter, and YouTube accounts. Which is fine and good, but come on people if you have a website please updated it as well. Why have it if you don’t, sure it’s nice and convenient to advertise and update on popular social networks. But what if those places shut down for unknown reasons, then you’re screwed because your website has little to no info on it, and that doesn’t make any sense.  But seeing how Injustice will be out in a couple months I don’t see you guys making a website overhaul anytime soon, still a neglected website is a sad thing indeed.

Sweet Chirstmas! – Moses vs Santa Claus

Epic-Rap-Battle-of-History

Now I know I’ve put into links and embedded into my posts of this subject, but now I like to formally announce it. *Ahem* Hands down the most enjoyable and episodic videos on YouTube is Epic Rap Battles of History. Created by musician comedians Peter Shukoff (Nice Peter) and Lloyd Ahlquist (EpicLLOYD) they pair up fictional/non-fictional and/or dead/not dead figures and have then rap off to see who’s the best of the two. Not only are they entertaining and funny, but they’re thought provoking as well providing facts to the competitors that the average views wouldn’t know – and all in rap form. That’s talent! Thanks to them I have a fantastic Holiday theme post to show:  Moses vs Santa Claus. The latest video matches up God’s messenger and liberator of slaves against the hardest working man in gift giving. Now you would think Santa would take this one easily, but that’s before you find out Moses is Snoop Lion, formerly Snoop Doggie Dog. Win people, win. Enjoy!

Character Quote – Skyrim guards

Ok, I get, you got shot! Now turn around while I pick this lock.

Ok people… This, this is insane; I’m serious, this one quote has been picked and ran with all over the internet. Why? I don’t know. That’s why the world is so wacky; one minute you’re saying something or doing something, person records it, then the next moment you enjoy a mediocratic rise of web fame for a few a month then disappear back into the obscurity (ITJB). In this case, a quote from the latest console juggernaut: Skyrim. Basically whenever a player character enters any town or city with guards in it they will eventually say: ‘I used to be an adventurer just like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee‘. Some gamers theorized that all the guards say this because the naïve warriors of Skyrim don’t use knee guards in their armors; so they in turn take lot punishment to the knee to the point where they are forced to retire to a guard position. Others think is sloppy programing. Well whatever the reason it’s today’s quote of the day, not because we think it’s a really funny or profound, only because it’s popular with the kids today. After all one of Armada’s many mottos is ‘Joining band wagon’s since 2008’.

Bonus – Just because we care!

The top three things Armada is thankful for this year

And that's why we eat turkey, cause they're jerks

Well its Thanksgiving here is the states where we enjoy a giant meal and be thankful for the blessings we got whether big and small – Armada’s no different. We got a lot to be thankful for really, it has been a very interesting year; so even though we’re going to be with our families we’re still Armada and here’s the top three things Armada is thankful for 2011.

3. Video Games

As True Backlash would say: “This is a big duh and a quarter”.  This site is called ‘Video Game Armada’ because we like video games a lot (well at least I do). There has always been something about them that was different from any other entertainment media in the world. They have the potential to have a story as epic as any novel, music as memorable as any symphony, cost as much as any movie to produce, be shown at home like any TV show, be as portable as any media player, and now use the internet as well as any computer. Video games are individual experiences from one game to the next, range from guilt free fun to truly educational. So in short Video Games are f’n awesome and they only get better from here.

2. Original internet media

Let’s face it, modern TV sucks… I mean it, I used to watch TV all the time and no matter what was on it was worth watching. Now all the good shows are either canceled (The Cape R.I.P.) or don’t exist. However there is an oasis of hope people – the internet. Everyone and their mama knows the entertainment valve of YouTube, but that’s just the start. There are various abridging series, homemade shows, and even podcasts that blow anything with a Kardashian in it out of the water. Seriously Tuesday nights are usually the best night for viewing and if want to laugh for booty off try ‘Z! True Long Island Story’. Thank you O.I.M. without you all our console would have been worn out this year.

1.  You

It’s cliché but its true, thanks to all the Armadaites out there Video Game Armada is more popular than ever! After all what’s an site devoted to the most awesome (and other) things in the world without people reading or watching? A sad exercise in failure that’s what, so from all of us here at Armada (or somewhere at this moment ) thank you. And as an added bonus we have a nice December issue of Game Informer to give away to one loyal site goer. The first person to shoot us with an email (at vgarmada@gmail.com) with the phrase: “Winner, winner; chicken dinner” along with a mailing address will get the mag with our blessings. Once again thank you all for your views and have an excellent Thanksgiving.
