You know, when Splatoon 2 was announced some people thought Nintendo missed an opportunity for word play on the title itself. However that’s incorrect, I mean how would that work: ‘Spla-2’ or ‘Splatwo’ or ‘Splatwoon’ or ‘Splatwoon 2: electric boogaloo’. Nintendo does silly, but not stupid, and cramming a 2 in Splatoon somehow would be stupid. Now since that was addressed, on to the video.
This one’s for the Nintendo 3DS users out there – you’re not forgotten. Code name S.T.E.A.M. is from the brain children of Intelligent Systems; the same people who created many awesome games like Fire Emblem & Advance Wars (and I know I say that every time I mention of Intelligent Systems). Code name S.T.E.A.M. takes place in a alternation reality where it’s still the 1800’s and the whole world runs on steam. Then suddenly – aliens! So who are you going to call? The Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace or S.T.E.A.M. that’s who. This title is part action and part strategy, you can run and gun but action are all governed my steam power. Use too much for shooting and you can’t move, use too much for running and you can’t fight, you have to think ahead in this game. While not Advanced Wars (and what is really), Code name S.T.E.A.M. is a rare hybrid game that has colorful characters, challenging enemies, and plenty of replay ability (even amiibo support is you got the New Nintendo 3DS). Give this game to a Nintendo handheld owning friend this holiday, they’ll thank you, then disappear, and not return til they beat the game (and maybe the New Game plus too).
What do you get when you cross the rockin 1800’s (maybe?), stylized comic book looks, aliens, awesome heroes, and steampunk technology? Why you get Code name S.T.E.A.M. for the Nintendo 3DS of course. So here’s the deal, you’re Henry Fleming working security of the unveiling to a new steam powered bridge in England, however monsters attack, wreaking everything in sight. That won’t do! Pick up a gun, watch your steam and you head in! That’s how the game starts people; in S.T.E.A.M. its part action and part strategy, you can run and gun but action are all governed my steam power. Use too much for shooting and you can’t move, use too much for running and you can’t fight, you have to think ahead in this game. Fortunately you’re not alone as you’ll be able to recruit like-mind S.T.E.A.M. mates to help save the day all with their own skills and abilities. Now Code name S.T.E.A.M. may seem like risky long shot for a game, but since the people who made this title also made A+ games like Fire Emblem, Wario Ware, and Advanced Wars I think it will do just fine.
