Again, this one’s pretty self explanatory.

Puzzle solving is highly overrated, let’s use those tools as the great fairy intended – by defeating waves of enemies with them.
Now for Link, from the Legend of Zelda fame, it fills many different roles as a costume. Sure it’s a great representative of video games, but it also could be seen as a fantasy choice. First Link himself is an elf of some sort (the ears are a giveaway). The land of Hyrule (to which Link is from and generally defends from evil) is as mystical, mysterious, and full of monsters as Azeroth, Middle-earth, or ‘The Known World’. Finally from his infamously green tunic to the master sword and shield Link just screams: ‘I’m going a quest!’. So you don’t have to worry about people not automatically getting who you’re going as this year because you got the a safety net of fantasy guy or gal (seriously there have been some pretty hot chicks dressing up as Link lately) to fall back on. And as we all know: fantasy is cool right now so work it for all it’s worth.
Mario isn’t the only flagship character Nintendo has, but usually he’s the only one to get direct sequels these days – until now. In almost 22 years since the release of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, it gets a sequel. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 3DS will be on the 3DS (obviously) and will bring back 16-bit (esque) Link and that top down view that Link to the Past was famous and fun for. The game they also use the 3D not only to impress but as a ‘puzzle solving mechanic’ as well. However other than the game also returning to the ‘Dark World’; there’s very little known about the sequel at this time. Stay tuned for more Zelda news as it falls through the cracks.
Ok ladies and gentleman in this new segment called ‘That’s Gamertainment’ we report on various internet bodies that use the power of video game to entertain the masses. And of course what better entertainment media than bloodspots. Deathbattle!, for those who don’t know, is a product of Screwattack.com that puts two fiction characters (mostly video game) against other to see who’s the best. As hardcore imaginists we agree with most of the death battles so far (the ninja turtle fatal 4 way is a little suspect, but that another post for another time) and today’s match is sure to be a true battle royal: Zelda vs. Peach. Now don’t get me wrong, I like these two princesses but they do tend to get kidnapped quite a bit. I mean they’re powerful in their own right and command their own kingdoms; but time and time again when the sheez hits the fan the only ones who can save them is a plumber and someone not old enough to shave let alone save the world. Oh well, that not a problem today the only thing these ladies need to worry is themselves. Check out the match here, and catch up with season one here.
