Gameroween 2015: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Cole MacGrath)

Infamous-2-kessler-skin

There are reluctant heroes, there are emo anti-heroes, and then there’s Cole MacGrath. Cole was as painfully average as a person can be, a content parcel deliverer and I guess amateur parkour guy. Well most of that changed when a package he was delivering exploded in his hands. No, he didn’t die, but was galvanized with the ability to wield and weaponize electricity. Now most would be scared sure, for about a minute, but when they realize they can shoot lightening out their fingers then things aren’t so bad after all. Cole is just so mopey about that fact it’s really sad, unless he’s trying to be an evil then he’s an emo try hard. So why make him a costume choice if his character is so ‘Cole MacGrath’? Because Infamous 1 & 2 were awesome (Second Son wasn’t bad either), lightening powers are boss, and everyone else in the game other than Cole were just fine (even his future self was a more interesting (uh, spoilers)). In fact I’m changing the choice, be Kessler instead: cooler look, more powerful, better back story, triple ‘A’ choice right there. Dodged a bullet people, dodge a bullet.

Gameroween 2014: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (The rest of the Smash cast)

super-smash

Well people Halloween is here already and despite my best efforts (thanks to poor planing) I couldn’t showcase all of this years Smash contestants for costume choices. However since the 3DS version of the game been out for a while now not only have you all played it, but I’m sure you all have chosen your favorites for the upcoming home console release. Well hype up your favorite character by going as them for Halloween: show your Dedede pride, tell people why Greninja is great, make the Pikmin your pick, etc. Whosoever your favorite wear it on your sleeve, your head, and your toes because on November 21 words will mean nothing and the true Super Smash Bros will begin. Today though we get fat with candy – Happy Halloween!

Gameroween 2014: Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Yoshi)

Yoshi

Yoshi is a truly fearsome creature; don’t be fulled by his adorable looks and childlike demeanor. In addition to being a dinosaur, which you don’t want to cross anyway, he also has the ability to eat anything (even ghosts) and turn them into eggs in which then he can throw at enemies like mortars. If that wasn’t bad enough; Yoshi has also the ability to breath fire, grow wings to fly, and cause earthquakes – oh and shipshape too. Finally Yoshi can walk on spikes, the bane of video games characters everywhere, and is indestructible because no matter the injury, the attack, the bottomless pit, or some guy on his back – Yoshi keeps going strong. So going as Yoshi will be honor for any hardcore gamer, people may laugh and point but you know the truth – mutants, demons, and the undead are no match against the Yoshi.

Gameroween 2012 – Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Day 2)

Day 2 people, ready for your suggested costume? It’s the Burger King King. Now hear me out; it’s been, what, a year since Burger King the company gave Burger King the King the axe by dropping the advertising agency (Crispin Porter + Bogusky) that created him. However like a Boss (or maybe a zombie) he doesn’t stay dead as the BK King still does his rounds feeding, entertaining or freaking out the populous at large. His most recent sighting was on the Late Show as they played footage of the King invading a local McDonald’s and taking photos with the guests.  Unfortunately Ronald McDonald caught wind of this and decided to take matter in his own hands. Chances are he’s going to try a bury BK King but that won’t work, he’ll always come back. Anyhow BK King is a good choice for so many reasons: he’s freaky, was in a couple of video games, and he’s the King. Point made.

Gameroween 2012 – Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Day 1)

We’re back baby, by popular demand (seriously – the highest numbers for the site is) Gameroween 2012! This segment is devoted to suggestions for game related costumes so everyone looks superfly for Halloween I’ll make this quick since we’ve seen this already: Mario Kazuya. Plenty of people have gone out as Kazuya Mishima, and even more has strapped on the overalls of the mustached one himself. But thanks to the Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Wii U Edition trailer the mad fusion of the two icons is not only a good idea but an awesome character that I wish would be a reality. Sadly it may never be outside of TTT2:WU, which is one more reason why video games are the best thing ever.

This kazuya mishima is cosplayed by BlackOtaku on the sgcafe.com site; now all he needs is to lose the suit, put on some red & blue plumber’s gear (with hat), grow a mustache, inflate the nose then done. Easy right?

Gameroween – Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Day 13)

Unlucky number 13 is today’s day in Gameroween; people we knew it was coming – the costume choice that even non-gamers chose to wear during this time. Famous for being the cutest looking and sound video game character on the market that appeals to all peoples, genders, and ages: Pikachu. Ok Armadaires, here’s your mission if you choose to go as the electric mouse type : inform the people. Don’t let fokes assume what you are, let them know; tell them you’re a Pokemon, the name of said Pokemon, its genealogical number (#25 – before Arbok but after Raichu / #22, # 156 &#104 in different regions), where it lives, how to catch one, and how they’re used in children’s bloodsports. The more they know, the less they see Pikachu as an adorable yellow thing and more as a dangerous wild animal that’s also a walking taser – bro.

Submitted by Gi, and posted on Game Vain's daily pic: Ladies and gentleman - Pikachu Cat. Now go catch him.

Gameroween – Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Day 12)

Hey, hey, hey, playas! Today we’re going to do something a little different. Instead of me offering a suggestion, you Armadaires create your own costumes – you can. Recently THQ released the ‘Initiation Station’ Demo for their upcoming everything killer, Saint’s Row: The Third. This station will allow players to create their avatar leader of the 3rd street saints, you can make them like yourselfor not. They probably have the best create-a-character to date so you can let your imagination run wild. Once your done you can upload it to the community gallery in saintsrow.com for your game when it comes out, and to show off online to the other would be pimps out there. So get cracking, you’re already one day behind.

Knew it! I knew there were black saiyans!

Gameroween – Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Day 10)

Halloween is more than just monster and superhero costumes, it’s also about robots costumes. That’s right, whether it’s the weapons out of nowhere, transforming into vehicles or secretly plotting to destroy all mankind; automatons go together with any Halloween function. Even within the cold perfect logic of machines, there is an oppressed minority – Cyborgs. Not human anymore, but too human to be a robots, cyborgs live a sad existence alone without a joy in the world. Yeah, no they don’t. They live an awesome life of excitement, action, super mechanized fists; but at the same time still enjoy the finer things in life. R.A.X. (Robotic Artificial Exoskeleton) Coswell from Eternal Champions is today’s choice. He’s was a skilled kickboxer in 2345 but when people wanted to see machine on machine violence he decided to get auged up. After that he was dropping opponents left and right, what finally took him out was a greedy promoter and a virus program. Don’t worry he’s currently fighting in the Eternal Champion tournament, with any luck he’ll be back. Until then, just wrap yourself in tin foil and represent.

Gameroween – Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Day 7)

Hello all, today costume might make you angry, very very angry, very very very angry – at little green piggies. Two years ago Angry Birds would have meant something completely different, but now it’s the poster icon for indie games on super phones (and beyond).  Me? I’ll always remember my first porker smackdown but unless they do a 180 I think this I.P. has peaked. Never the less, the birds themselves are never boring, they have many ways to enact vengeance upon those who wronged them. Bludgeoning them, torpedoing them, ganging up on them, blowing them up, ‘ranging them, and when all else fails dropping an eagle that size of the screen. These characters are most sadistic, bloodthirsty, mean spirited, outright angry video game characters to date –they’re fit right in with Jason and Freddy.

Aren't you the cutest little pig killer, yes you are, yes you are! This costume is available at spirithalloween.com by the by

Gameroween – Video Game Characters that make good costumes (Day 6)

Ok today’s pick is going to take you back, remember that Saturday Night Live skit ‘It’s Pat’! Where there was character called (you guessed it) Pat, and everyone around tried (with no luck) to determine with he/she was. I never knew how that whole thing turned out, but before you get started no, it’s not Pat I’m suggestion – It’s Plok! Now for who never played Plok’s psychedelic game the main character’s a little more unique than your standard FPS man of action. He’s red and yellow and, oh, has disembodied detachable arms and legs. That’s right, not only is his arms and legs disembodied (yet still at their positions on his body) but at a moment’s notice they can be launched at enemies for a sucker punch or swift kick. That’s only the tip of this screwball sunday, trust me play the game someday you won’t regret it. Anyway this costume is similar to the Kirby one suggested few days ago, but you don’t have to worry about roundness this time around (heh, I made a funny). For the limb launching effect just carry around some red gloves and your good. People will never guess what you are, and if they do, shake their hand (disembodied or otherwise), because they are a real gamer.

Even Plok gears up for Halloween, he's going as the Pyro from Team Fortess 2. Huh... What..? That's not his costume? That's just one of his super powerful transformations? My bad.
